Part Number:FLOWER

This Flower puzzle has only 12 pieces, an adult-oriented image with vivid colors, and large pieces which are easy to handle. Puzzles are made of a thick, durable chipboard and are 8.25" X 11" when complete. Consider for MindStart middle activity level

Puzzles with many pieces and detailed images are too difficult and frustrating for patients with dementia, as all the pieces look too similar. MindStart puzzles are unique because the images have only a few, simple objects in each image, making it easier for the user to find pieces that go together.  This design feature, along with having less puzzle pieces, allow people with dementia to have the right level of mental stimulation and success.

"Large piece puzzles help adults with dementia and seniors with vision loss"

Therapist Tip: Jigsaw puzzle products stimulate the mind by using the skills of matching, problem solving, visual skills, and coordination of the fingers.  They also can stimulate memory through the image on the puzzle.  MindStart puzzles are a form of therapy for adults with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia,  Parkinson's, head injury, stroke, or frail elderly who tire easily. Also, the large size of the puzzle pieces help seniors with vision loss to easily see and handle the pieces.  The Flower puzzle can  stimulate conversation about gardening, wedding bouquets, and giving flowers for special occasions.

I cannot begin to tell you how exciting it was to watch one of my dementia clients do this puzzle for the first time. I immediately brought in the other 12 piece "candy dish" puzzle and she quickly assembled that one as well. Just ordered the final 3 puzzles in that series.....Keep them coming...

12 piece Flower Puzzle
I purchased this Puzzle for my Mother who has Dementia. It is fantastic. She loves the colours and can complete it all by herself, when she is having a good day. She gets a real thrill when that last piece fits into place. On the days that she isn't as sharp as usual I just need to prompt her a little and she soon catches on what to do and loves the picture. And again is happy when that last piece fits.

I use this as a conversation starter with two or three residents at a time. I get much appreciate having a large piece puzzle that isn't child themed to warm up some interesting summer topics!

Bought two of the 12-piece puzzles and learned a bit about puzzles. She put ice cream and flowers together right off the bat, while it takes her a lot longer and she needs help with the ones made for young children, which are also 12 pieces. I guess the difference is that the subjects of MindStart puzzles are simpler and less busy. So, if you need a positive reinforcement from time to time, I'd recommend these highly. er
